Chapter 1

Where I come from

I'm of mixed-race origin: half Black, half white. That's shaped how I've experienced work, and how I've been seen at work.

Large corporate environments don't always feel as if they were built with everyone in mind. I know what it's like to walk into rooms like that.

Chapter 2

Over 20 years inside large organisations

For over 20 years, I've worked inside some of the largest organisations in banking, telecoms, marketing and retail. My career has included the Bank of England, British Telecom (BT), WPP, Detica, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, Goldman Sachs and Sainsbury's, as well as management consultancy firms.

I've worked across Europe with WPP, and internationally.

Those years taught me how big organisations really operate: how decisions get made, how people get noticed, and how office politics shapes careers.

Chapter 3

What I do now

Today I work as a project manager and programme director. My work covers cyber security, commercial banking, Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM), retail and global banking. I work at a senior level, so I know what the people doing the hiring and promoting are looking for.

How I trained

I'm an NLP Master Practitioner, trained with Richard Bandler. NLP sits underneath my coaching: it's how we work on the way you think, speak and prepare. I also hold project, business analysis and agile qualifications, and have a background in chartered and management accountancy.

Chapter 5

Why I coach

I want to pass on what I've learned to people at every stage of working life, from school and college leavers to experienced professionals. The unwritten rules of work are easier to learn from someone who has worked by them for a long time.

I won't pretend my experience is the same as yours. Everyone's is different. What I can do is share what I've learned, and give you a space to talk honestly about how your background affects how you're seen at work. The Boardroom Edit is how I do that.
